When To Go To The Hospital

Labor

First Baby
If your contractions (feeling like your uterus is “knotting up”, starting at the top of your uterus radiating through your belly and lower back) are:

  • 5 minutes or less apart for at least an hour
  • Lasting 60 seconds or longer
  • Getting stronger (you feel a need to breathe through contractions)
  • Unable to talk through
  • UNLESS OTHERWISE ADVISED BY YOUR PHYSICIAN

Not First Baby
If your contractions are:

  • 5-10 minutes apart for at least an hour
  • Lasting 60 seconds or longer
  • Getting stronger
  • Unable to talk through
  • UNLESS OTHERWISE ADVISED BY YOUR PHYSICIAN

OR
If your contractions are:

  • If your Bag of Waters has ruptured (loss of fluid). Note time, amount; and color of fluid
  • If you have bleeding- more than spotting-“like a period”

If any of the above, proceed to WMH hospital. Call 262-928-2365 en route to hospital.
Labor and Delivery will notify your physician of your arrival once in L/D.

If unsure whether or not you are in labor, you may call this office 262-544-4411. Your doctor may have you return to the office to be checked for labor. If after office hours, call office and have on-call physician paged.
