Why Get the Flu Shot When Pregnant

blog-flushot-10-2014The Center for Disease Control has stated that pregnant women are at the highest risk for contracting the influenza virus. Pregnant women who have the virus are at a high risk for pregnancy complication and could potentially place their unborn child at risk. Sadly each year deaths continue to be reported from influenza complications among pregnant women. All medical providers at Moreland OB-GYN adhere to the Center for Disease Controls recommendations and encourage all pregnant women to receive the flu shot. Regardless if you are newly pregnant or just about to deliver, the flu shot is beneficial in prevention.

The Flu shot is the best way to protect against influenza. Moreland OB-GYN offers the flu shot during obstetric and post partum visits.
