Diagnostic Testing

Diagnostic tests help identify medical conditions or diseases in a patient. These tests are essential to diagnose, assess the severity, and treat health conditions. Diagnostic tests are administered in various ways, such as blood tests, imaging studies, and physical exams.

Diagnostic tests may be performed depending on your medical history and the reason for your appointment. Diagnostic testing can measure several factors, such as glucose tolerance and hormone levels. 

Standard diagnostic tests for adolescents include:

• Pap Smear: Screens for cervical cancer using a sample of cells collected from the cervix during a pelvic exam.
• Pelvic Imaging: A pelvic ultrasound or MRI may be needed to determine the cause of pelvic pain, irregular periods, or suspected reproductive organ abnormalities.
• STI Testing: Patients are screened for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) through urine tests, vaginal swabs, or blood tests.
• Hormone Testing: A blood sample may be drawn to measure hormone levels and imbalances.
• Urinalysis: To screen for urinary tract infections or other urinary issues.
