Novasure

Novasure endometrial ablation is a quick, minimally invasive procedure that significantly reduces or stops heavy periods in 77.7% of women. Novasure is used to treat menorrhagia or heavy periods. It is an endometrial ablation procedure that removes the endometrium or lining of the uterus that is causing the heavy bleeding. It works by using a small device placed inside the uterus to deliver radiofrequency energy to the lining of the uterus for 90 seconds. After this, the device is removed and nothing is left behind.

This procedure can be performed in the office or in the operating room depending on the patient needs. In our office, the entire time from walking into walking out is less than an hour with the procedure taking as little as five minutes. There is no need for anesthesia or sedation.

This procedure is not considered a birth control and should only be performed on women who never want to be pregnant again.
